Five minutes of reading that saves a difficult conversation later. There is one deadline that matters, and everything else is straightforward.
From picking a date to being on the start line

Pick the expedition and the date
Open the dates on any expedition page and choose a departure. You will see how many places are left on it, and the price for the party you are bringing before you pay anything.

Say who is coming
Riders, pillions, single rooms, damage protection, and on a 4x4 expedition the car you want or your own. The total changes as you choose, so nothing is a surprise.

Pay in full, or pay 20 percent
Either settles the place. Paying in full is done with it; paying 20 percent holds the place and leaves the rest to clear before you travel.

The place is yours
A confirmation email arrives with your booking reference, and the booking appears in your account with everything paid and everything still outstanding.

Send your documents
Once the expedition is paid for in full, a form appears on your account. Licence, passport, insurance and the details we need for permits. Fill it in, then mark it as sent so we both know where we stand.

Ride
We are in touch before departure with the meeting point, the weather and anything the route is doing that week.
Everything must be paid 14 days before departure
That date is not a reminder. Permits are filed against it, rooms are paid for and vehicles are committed, and none of it can be undone at short notice.
If anything is still outstanding when it passes, the booking is cancelled, the documents form is withdrawn and the place goes back on sale. Money already paid is not returned.
We write to you as the date comes closer, and your account shows what is left at all times. If you are in difficulty, tell us early: there is a great deal we can do two months out and very little we can do two weeks out.
Paying the balance in instalments
There is no schedule to keep to. Once the 20 percent is paid, you can pay whatever you like, whenever you like, as many times as you like, until the balance is clear.
Open the booking in your account, type an amount and pay it. The balance updates immediately and the receipt is emailed to you.
Booking for more than one rider
Book and pay for as many riders as you are bringing, and you will get an invite link for each of the others.
Send the link to each rider. They make an account, join the group, and their own documents form appears for them to fill in. They see the expedition and the group, not what anyone paid.
Pillions do not need an invite or an account: name them on the booking and we have what we need.
What we charge, and in what currency
Prices are set in US dollars and shown to you in your own currency. You are charged in your own currency where our payment provider can take it, and in dollars where it cannot.
The rate is fixed the moment you book. A booking paid across four instalments over five months is settled at the rate on the day it was made, not the rate on the day each instalment lands.
Custom expeditions
A custom expedition is built for you and only appears in your account. Choose your riders and pillions, and pay in full or with 20 percent exactly as above.
Only the person the expedition was built for can pay for it. Everyone else joins through the invite link and fills in their documents.
Is any of it refundable?
No. Money paid towards an expedition is not refundable at any point, because it goes straight out again on permits, rooms and vehicles that cannot be recovered.
Travel insurance that covers cancellation is worth having, and we recommend it on every booking. If you cannot travel, ask us about moving to another departure before you cancel: more than 45 days out and with space on the other date, that is usually possible.
